Do I Need a Filling?

Illustration of filling in toothTooth decay isn’t always noticeable. Although painful toothaches can sometimes be evident, other symptoms of cavities include

  • Rough surfaces
  • Visible discoloration
  • Sensitivity to sweets
  • Pain when biting down
  • Food getting stuck

The only way to know for certain if you have a cavity is to have our dentist evaluate the tooth and take an X-ray. This digital image allows us to see the inside of your tooth’s structure and assess the extent of physical damage.

If the cavity is too deep, you may need something like a crown or root canal instead of a modest filling. Early diagnosis and treatment can limit the extent of care you need in the future.

Made to Match Your Tooth

Composite restorations come in a variety of different shades. We can select the best one to match your smile, so that the final restoration isn’t noticeable to other people. Unlike traditional metal fillings, white restorations are perfect for treating cavities on your front teeth!

A Second Opinion

We can also replace your existing fillings with composite fillings if you like. Or, if you have been told that you need fillings and want a second opinion, call our office today. We’ll be happy to answer any questions that you have!
